My parents say I was born in Coorg, on 21 October 1985, was happily climbing trees and living with my turtle, dogs and cats until I was sent away to Bangalore city to learn English and prepare for the ‘Ideal’ life.
Aspired to become a fashion designer while in the 10th grade but then ditched the idea to take up fine arts and German language studies.
Believed that cameras only clicked pictures until I was 17, thanks to my German tutor Coni, I realized they could splice light and life to create evocative images or illustrate stories.
With bits of professional advice from Coni, Raghav Shreyas, Sameer and post 3 years of whipping from Farrokh Chothia, I seek to create images that explore, interpret and illustrate good old stories like fashion, spaces and the society in a brand new way.
In 2011 and 2012, I was pleased and privileged to assist the legendary photographer Mary Ellen Mark on short projects.
Apart from the many experiences and knowledge gained from various collaborators, I consider designer Wendell Rodricks, artist Dayanita Singh and French linguist Shakoor Siddharth as my mentors.
I draw inspiration from the philosophies and works of J. Krishnamurti, Carravagio, Johannes Vermeer, Egon Schiele, Joseph Kosuth, Vittorio Storaro,Tom Stern, Frank Griebe, Fatih Akin, Tom Tykwer, Antony and the Johnsons, Cristobal Balenciaga, Gianni Versace, Martin Margiela, Rei Kwakubo, Ann Demulameester, Poornima Jain, Cecil Beaton, David Bailey, Nick Knight, Gian Paolo Barberi, Nadav Kander, Pat, Max Farago and many more.
